The annual Memorial Day celebration held in the heart of historic city of Wasco (founded in 1879) kicks off with a morning service.

Memorial Day parade in Wasco
Memorial Day morning in downtown Wasco continues with a parade followed in the afternoon by a classic car show, artisan market, food and drinks and activities for kids. The Wasco community’s passion and commitment to its Memorial Day tradition goes back over 40 years and can be seen in this video of the 2019 event.

Is there a restaurant or somewhere to get breakfast in Wasco?

Hi Dan. Well, that is very good question. I checked and there really is no_early morning_breakfast option right there in downtown Wasco (The Dirty Cowgirl Saloon, which gets excellent reviews, does not open until 11:00am). The closest early morning breakfast options to Wasco would be 1) Dinty’s Market & Deli at Biggs Junction right off of Hwy 84, an 11 mi. straight shot on Hwy 97 to Wasco (opening at 5:00am and serving breakfast, or 2) Bob’s Texas T-Bone and Frosty Lounge, a sit-down restaurant in Rufus just off of Hwy 84 a couple miles east of Biggs Junction (opening at 6:00am). Hi there! There’s actually a country breakfast provided by a local caterer from 7 to 10 a.m. at the Wasco School Events Center that morning! Cost is $14 for adults, $10 for kids, buffet style – pancakes, eggs, potatoes, ham, sausage, biscuits & gravy, muffins and more!

They usually have breakfast at the old school/community Center. Does this mean they will not have breakfast this year?

Hi Gwen. No worries. The event organizers confirm that the breakfast will occur this year just as usual. *Same place. Same time, 7a-10am. There is a new caterer, but that is all that has changed. Hope this helps! –Marc
