Every Memorial Day in Oregon City a large group of people gather at scenic Mountain View Cemetery. At over 130 years and counting, the annual ceremony here is among the oldest in the state. It’s also among the best.Oregon City High School JROTC presents the colors in 2026. The Memorial Day ceremony in Oregon City also includes a guest speaker, 21-gun salute, a military flyover and complementary food and drinks.
The city’s Veterans Memorial Plaza, thoughtfully renovated in 2023, functions extremely well for this ceremony.
Situated under the shade of massive Western Red Cedars, Douglas-firs, and towering Pines, the site provides plenty of room for individuals and groups to find the perfect spot. Right next to Veterans Memorial Plaza is the Parents of Murdered Children Memorial. The calming sound of the water falling within this monument can be heard throughout the Memorial Day ceremony.
