VFW Post 3048 hosts the annual Memorial Day service in Baker City at Mount Hope Cemetery. Each year volunteers from the Elks Club place an astonishing 550 large, casket-sized flags along the cemetery’s Avenue of Flags and in the Veterans burial area. Each one of the flags has the name of a departed veteran with Baker County ties.

Hi Vicki. There is a William Byers interred at the city (Mount Hope Cemetery) in Baker City, however, he died in 1918, well before World War II. It would help a lot in this search to know these things: 1) whether you are sure of the last name spelling (“Byers”), 2) approximately when James and William would have passed away, and 3) the native state of James and William (where they were born)? Thanks, Vicki! Kind regards, Marc
Is there a plot here for William and James Byers they were in WWll?
Thank you,
Vicki Norton
PS They were my friend’s uncles
