Special Indoor Exhibit
Before or after the ceremony at Fir Lawn be sure to walk inside the main building to browse the excellent military uniform exhibit.
In 2025 a special exhibit called “The Price of Freedom: Americans at War” ran inside the Fir Lawn Memorial Gardens Funeral Home during Memorial Day. The exhibition featured more than fifteen military uniforms as well as artwork reproduction from the exhibit of the National Museum of American History.
In 2024 a special “Women in Uniform” exhibit ran inside the Fir Lawn Memorial Gardens Funeral Home during Memorial Day. The exhibition featured reproductions of works of art that depict female Navy military personnel. It also included Women’s Uniforms from each branch of the service and different eras.
The Memorial Day ceremonies at Pioneer Cemetery and Fir Lawn Memorial Gardens in Hillsboro, Oregon offer poignant tributes to our nation’s veterans. It’s heartening to see these longstanding traditions honoring those who served, with events like the flag-raising by American Legion Post 6 and the “Women in Uniform” exhibit adding meaningful depth to the commemoration. These events not only honor the past but also educate and inspire community members about our military history and the contributions of servicewomen.
