Memorial Day by the Lake

The Tualatin Memorial Day ceremony is particularly family-friendly with its large lakeside Commons area for kids to explore and a catered community picnic at a nearby park afterward. Members of the Portland Model Powerboat Association run their boats on the lake. Guest speakers for 2025 include Tualatin Mayor Frank Bubenik, a U.S. Army veteran, and U.S. Rep. Andrea Salinas.

Veterans Plaza at the Tualatin Commons — Before or after the ceremony be sure to walk over to Veterans Plaza on the east side of the lake. This beautiful addition to the Commons opened in Spring 2025. You’ll find a reflecting pool, seating, a labyrinth, a synthetic turf area, a story circle as well as art by Kentucky-based sculptor Douwe Blumberg.

Memorial Day at Tualatin Community Park — Tualatin’s annual Memorial Day picnic at Tualatin Community Park is a truly wonderful event. The park is set right along the Tualatin River with nature trails and a beautiful playground for kids. There were more than twenty sponsors in 2022 including the City of Tualatin.
